So in true ham fashion, I just couldn't let go of my gear, so I went looking. Found my HT and whip, it's a Yaesu FT-50R, and the whip is a Diamond SRH77CA. The Icom is a IC-208H, and I'm still looking it's antenna. I'm sure I'll find it. Eventually.

Time to break things up with an 8 call. de K8ZW. Used to have an 857 in my RAM 2500 but sold that and haven't put it in the 3500. Run a Flex 5000A with a Drake TR7 amp and a 600' loop at the home QTH.

@jackintheshop No, moved west about an hour and stopped operating a few years later. I used to operate a Yaesu HT with a bigger rubber duck whip, and an Icom mobile used as a base tied to a 3dB 1/2 wave on a 50' mast. It was quite the rig when I was using it for pit-to-racecar comms back when a bunch of friends and I were running long endurance races (12 hours or more). Still have a number of friends who operate.

@jackintheshop both of those are good solid radios!

@wolfie I got the old TS-2000 in the shack. My only rig right now. I had 3 706-MK2Gs, I like those little rigs.

@chargepositif very nice! KF4YOO here, running Yaesu FT 857 with a lil Tarheel 80-10 mobile antenna and a 2m/440 whip on the semi, Drake TR4C and Swan 350 with half wave wire dipoles at the home QTH

@wolfie Heck yeah man! Arduino powered blinky lights, and more! I had a ham ticket for a while, used to operate as KG4SWO, mostly on 2-meters and 440, mostly ragchews, but hey it's honest operating.

@chargepositif yeah I could bring my diy 15 watt diode, already have an inverter that runs my pc with electrical test gear for building circuits and playing with my arduinos and building ham radios......maybe I need to integrate another shelf to add the diode laser in also! 🀣

@wolfie Dude! Heavy/oversized haul? That's some cool sh!@t. A small diode or small fiber could be set up in the sleeper. 🀣 They don't take up much space and can be run off the APU

@admin I wish I could bring my lasers with me on the trailer but I don't think they would last very long! Lol

@chargepositif will most certainly do! I would enjoy that!

@wolfie If you ever find yourself taking a break along the I40/I85 corridor in NC, gimme a shout with little heads up, and maybe we can grab dinner and talk lasers and stuff.

So where do you keep your lasers? First 1/4 of the trailer reserved space? πŸ‘€
