Posts have an arbitrary 256 character limit when posted from the main post window but DO NOT have a character limit when posting comments - HOWEVER - if you edit a comment suddenly the limit applies. I just had to cut a comment in half after trying to edit one that was greater than 256 characters. ALL arbitrary post limitations should be removed.
